Glass fiber is the reinforcing material of the lighting board and the fundamental guarantee of strength and toughness. Nowadays, the production line of daylighting panels generally adopts two technologies, cut yarn or chopped strand mat. The cost of yarn cutting is low, and the adjustment is flexible during production. The disadvantage is that due to the production process, the glass fiber content of the board is only 22%, so the strength of the board is poor and the board is brittle and easy to break. When it is easy to crack, it is easy to cause water leakage. The cost of chopped strand mat is relatively high, but the glass fiber content of the board can be relatively high, generally greater than 30%, so the strength and toughness of the board are very good, and it will not crack during handling and nailing.
When using felt to produce, thicker products will be produced with two or even three pieces of felt to meet the requirements of product thickness and glass fiber content. Customers may worry about delamination. This worry is unnecessary. The same method is used to achieve strength in the automotive and aerospace industries. We have done a similar experiment: use 60 layers of 600g/m sheets to make a product with a thickness of 80cm, cut it along the thickness direction for strength testing, and there is no difference between the normal production board.
