Two questions about the protective film of FRP gel coat panels
Question One:The film is hard to peel off
Solution: Warm the film with a hair dryer or heat gun on low heat. It softens the adhesive and the film comes off much more easily.
Question Two:Adhesive residue is left on the panel where the film tears Gasoline, alcohol, and thinner didn't work.
Solution: Wipe the residue with acetone. Test on a small hidden area first, and use it in a well-ventilated space away from open flame.
Why does this happen?
One common situation is that sunlight, high temperatures, humidity, and long storage can age the adhesive layer. It hardens, bonds more strongly, and is more likely to leave residue. Summer sea freight is a common factor, as temperatures inside a shipping container can get very high.
Tip: Until installation, store the panels in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
