EPS

1. EPS

EPS is the abbreviation for expanded polystyrene foam. It is made of polystyrene raw materials through pre-expansion, curing, molding, drying and cutting. It can not only be made into foam products of different densities and shapes, but also can produce foam plates of various thicknesses. It is widely used in construction, heat preservation, packaging, freezing, daily necessities, industrial casting and other fields. It can also be used in the manufacture of exhibition venues, merchandise cabinets, advertising signs and toys. At present, in order to meet the national building energy-saving requirements, it is mainly used for external wall insulation, external wall internal insulation, and floor heating. EPS board is a kind of thermoplastic material. It contains 3-6 million independent air-tight bubbles per cubic meter volume. The volume of air contained is more than 98%. Because the heat conductivity of air is very small, and it is enclosed in foam plastic. It cannot be convective, so EPS is a material with very good thermal insulation properties.

XPS

2. XPS

XPS is the abbreviation for continuous extruded polystyrene foam. It is a rigid foamed plastic board made of polystyrene raw materials plus other auxiliary materials and polymers, heated and mixed while injecting the catalyst, and then extruded and molded. XPS board has a perfect closed-cell honeycomb structure. This structure allows XPS board to have extremely low water absorption (almost no water absorption), low thermal conductivity, high compression resistance, and aging resistance (normal use almost no aging decomposition phenomenon).

3. Polyurethane(PU)

Polyurethane rigid foam board is a new type of synthetic material with thermal insulation and waterproof functions. Its thermal conductivity is low, only 0.022~0.033W/(m*Κ), which is equivalent to half of the extruded board, and it is the thermal conductivity of all current thermal insulation materials. lowest. Rigid polyurethane foam is mainly used in building exterior wall insulation, integrated roof waterproof and thermal insulation, cold storage insulation, pipeline insulation materials, building boards, refrigerated trucks and cold storage insulation materials.

4. The difference between polyurethane and EPS, EPS

i. Thermal insulation performance Among the three, the thermal insulation performance of the polyurethane sandwich panel is better. Under the premise of the same energy saving index, the thickness of the thermal insulation panel can be reduced and the quality stability of the thermal insulation system can be improved.

ii. Thermal stability The thermal stability of rigid foam polyurethane can be as high as 120℃, while that of benzene board is only 70℃. In this way, above a certain temperature, it is easy to cause secondary foaming of the benzene board, leading to cracking of the board seam.

iii. the principle of combustion

Rigid foam polyurethane is a thermosetting material, which forms a carbonized layer after being heated and burned, which blocks the further intrusion of heat and oxygen, hinders the further combustion of the foam, and is not easy to cause fire spreading accidents. While polystyrene foam is a thermoplastic material, it shrinks and melts after being heated, and then drops and burns. It cannot produce a carbonization barrier layer, and it is very easy to cause flame spread and flashover accidents. However, flame retardants are often added to polystyrene foaming to achieve the corresponding flame retardant grade.

iv. The scope of applicatio

Polystyrene foam can only be molded and extruded foam forming in a factory state, while rigid polyurethane foam can be sprayed, poured and factory foamed, so the application methods and application fields are more diverse and convenient than polystyrene foam .

v. The cost is different, the price of polyurethane board is higher, and the corresponding price of benzene board is lower.
