Data shows that in August, the Japanese Industrial and Mining Production Index fell 3.2% month-on-month to 95.0, which was greater than the previous month’s 1.5% decline. The month-on-month decline in 12 of all 15 industrial and mining industries was down. Among them, the month-on-month decline in the automotive industry expanded from 3.1% in the previous month to 15.2%, and the decline in the electrical and information communication machinery industry expanded from 3.4% to 10.6%. Japan’s industrial and mining shipments index fell 3.8% from the previous month to 92.7, and the inventory index fell 0.3% from the previous month to 94.7.
The manufacturing production forecast index released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry at the same time shows that manufacturing production in September may increase by 0.2% month-on-month, and it is expected to increase by 6.8% in October. Based on the above situation, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry downgraded its judgment on industrial and mining production from "recovering" to "staying in place". This is the first time that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has lowered its judgment since April last year.
