Fiberboard, also known as density board, is a man-made board made of wood fiber or other vegetable fiber as raw material and applied with urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesives. Adhesives and/or additives can be applied during the manufacturing process. Fiberboard has the advantages of uniform material, small vertical and horizontal strength difference, and not easy to crack, and has a wide range of uses. It takes about 2.5 to 3 cubic meters of wood to make 1 cubic meter of fiberboard, which can replace 3 cubic meters of sawn timber or 5 cubic meters of logs. The development of fiberboard production is an effective way to comprehensively utilize wood resources.
The disadvantage of fiberboard is that the back surface has a net pattern, which causes the surface area of the two sides of the board to be different, and the board warps and deforms due to the difference in expansion force after moisture absorption; the surface of the hard board is hard, nailing is difficult, and the water resistance is poor. Although dry-process fiberboard avoids some shortcomings, it has a higher cost.
my country's fiberboard production started in the 1970s, developed in the 1980s, and took off in the 1990s. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the output of fiberboard has increased substantially, breaking through 20 million m3 for the first time in 2005 to 49.54 million cubic meters in 2011. Judging from the output of various provinces and cities, the output of fiberboard in Henan Province in 2011 reached 6.98 million cubic meters, an increase of 44.87% over 2010, and accounted for 14.09% of the country's total output. It is followed by Guangxi, Jiangsu and Shandong, which account for 12.84%, 9.76% and 8.56% of total output respectively. From January to July 2012, my country's fiberboard production reached 29,805,100.39 square meters, an increase of 11.3% over the same period in 2011.
