In what aspects should the RV be maintained?

Oct 21, 2024

FRP is widely used in RV manufacturing because of its stable performance, light weight, corrosion resistance, low energy consumption, earthquake resistance, sound insulation, etc. In daily use, RVs still need to be maintained in the following aspects.

Avoid contact with sharp and hard objects.

Repair damage in time.

Check the car body regularly. If you find resin peeling, deep scratches, or exposed fibers, repair them in time, otherwise water penetration will accelerate damage.

The surface of the RV should be kept clean at all times.

Surfaces stained with oil and other substances can be cleaned with ordinary household detergents. Do not use highly corrosive solvents, nor use scouring powder or metal wire to scrub, so as not to leave scratches.

If the stains are difficult to remove, gasoline, kerosene, diesel, toluene, etc. can be used for cleaning, but rinse with clean water immediately after washing. When cleaning, you can also use a tool scraper, but use bamboo or plastic sheets with a hardness lower than that of fiberglass to avoid scratching the surface. When scrubbing, you can use soft materials such as gauze and soft foam plastics.

Avoid long-term exposure to the sun.

Long-term exposure is not good for FRP, and the color of the gel coat will also be affected.

Wax and polish regularly.

The material can be car wax or fiberglass special polishing wax, forming a tough wax film on the surface of fiberglass.

Apply paint to maintain beauty and durability.

After three to five years of use, the color of the gel coat gradually fades and loses its luster, especially in dark colors. To maintain the beauty of the RV's exterior, when the gel coat is old and has many scratches, you can apply paint.
